👾 Good news!👾

After bending down for google, they finally removed the stupid "Harmful software" warning from google's 'safe browsing' which is used by pretty much all mainstream browsers out there.

We did have to create a google account, verify ownership of the domain (meaning connect that account with disroot.org) and beg for forgiveness because of one public share link google did not like. There was no other way to do it which only shows how big players abuse their power.

@icedquinn This time they wanted TXT record. But its just ridiculous that bcause of one reported URL, instead of for example contacxting us totake it down, we need to jump through hoops for them. And not only that. If we could just send them an email, but they require us to open account with them. It's just such a power play on their side.

@strypey...So apart from regular maintained, we also work on improvements constantly in two week periods, no weekends, no days off, constant grind. This has it's benefits but recently started causing a burnout and the feeling of being overwhelmed and not able to keep up with the tempo. So in order to make it less mad tempo wise we decided to change to 4 week sprints, which means instead of meeting weekly we now meet bi-weekly. ...@wu_lee @bhaugen @richdecibels @nicksellen @mike_hales @protean

@strypey It depends how you look at it. Workload wise, of course disroot is taking more and more time as it matures and grows. It's also (as we mention in the blog post) our onw fault to keep pushing with 120% of power instead of doing it a bit more calmly. We work on disroot in continuous development....

@strypey ... As for funding. On one hand it is amazing. The monthly costs are entirely paid form donations, and we have managed to save up quite a sum of money for future hardware upgrades or legal costs if we need to. That said, seeing how much time we spent on disroot (some of us clock over 40 hours a week on disroot), and how much we are pationate about it, it's no suprise we would like to turn it into our main occupation. @witziege Our Privacy Policy is I think quite clear on this topic. It's actually being re-written as we speak to make it even more clear (should be out within a week).

All your files stored on our nextcloud are encrypted with a key created based on your credentials. This means that unless we do MITM attak on you and get your credentials we cannot see the content of the files. However, contacts, calendars, circles, tasks are unencrypted so potentially we can read it.
