I'd just like to interject for a moment.

What you’re referring to as #GitHub, is in fact, Microsoft® GitHub, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, those bastards who still support #ICE.

GitHub is not a system of oppression unto itself, but rather another controlled component of a fully oppressive capitalist system made useful by tireless lobbying, shell companies and rotting essential infrastructure comprising a fully oppressive system as envisioned by our glorious leader, AYN RAND.

"There is not even a thought, or an invention, which is not common property, born of the past and the present. Thousands of inventors, known and unknown, who have died in poverty, have co-operated in the invention of each of these machines which embody the genius of man."

And that, ladies, gents, slimes and moulds, is why all technology should be free and open.

@naruciakk Meanwhile there's a lot of people in risky positions like supermarkets that are also in risk groups.

If these people die, you might not say that capitalism killed them (the virus did) but capitalism *definitely* accepted the risk.

The need for economic growth is going to end up killing quite literally everybody and possibly pulling down the rest of the ecosphere with us.

@naruciakk And if we don't shut down much of our industry we don't have a future due to the climate catastrophe anyways.

The thing is, production of basic-needs goods works fine even if things are scaled back and superfluous industries are just outright stopped.

Much of it is already pretty automated and I'm guessing the current pandemic probably highlights which parts in production chains aren't already sufficiently automated yet pretty well.

@naruciakk They don't want to kill us for profit, they just accept it if it is profitable for them and this is nothing new either.

Also this meme suggests that the government throws the economy under the bus before people, which definitely isn't what's currently happening – at least where I live.

Goddamn firefox started fucking with the system volume. So now whenever I get a notification, the volume jumps back to whatever it was at the previous boot.

Firefox has become shittier with every successive release for years now and I just want to fucking obsolete it, but there simply is no better browser.

The web is utterly broken and I fucking hate it. -_-

@Wolf480pl That's just plain wrong. If there was nt copyright there wouldn't be copyleft because copyleft defines itself as a contrast to copyright.

And if there was no copyright, there still are a plethora of other ways to agree on a form of collaboration. Like a contract. Or a spoken agreement. Or just random happenstance because the collaborators share similar values regarding transparency and open access…

@Wolf480pl As a hacker, you should have an intuitive understanding of this. Access to information should be free, this tenet has been with us basically from the start.

@Wolf480pl Intellectual Property is the enemy of a free society.

The nginx case is just one in a global pattern that has been going on for decades now. Another would be FrageDenStaat being sued for breach of copyright when publishing answers to the local equivalent of FOIA requests.

Art and education must be free, otherwise you're enforcing social hierarchies I consider myself to be an enemy of.

@Wolf480pl This is either stupid or just bad faith bullshit.

I mean implying that taxes and intellectual property are somehow equivalent – you have no excuse to even pretend that makes sense…

Russian police raid office, arrest two people central to #nginx development.

And of course the excuse is fucking copyright law. Death to intellectual property. -_-
