The next #SocialCG will be about Fediverse Enhancement Proposals (FEP's) in order to get more standardization while things evolve.

This whole discussion thread is super interesting! But it will also be lost in the stream pretty quick.
I created some posts on #SocialHub about bigger pictures, different perspectives and more holistic approach. Hoping to rally ppl to look beyond the mere of their pet project. #SocialCG will be more active (meetup Friday), #FediverseFutures maybe erected.

Well said. In addition there wouldn't be much real decentralization without the adoption of some generally accepted standards. #ActivityPub is part of the DNA that's needed to grow the organism of the #fediverse.
The beauty of the FEP is that it doesn't need a "instance" (person, team) to make final decisions. Everyone can take initiative, start a FEP for their own thing, and process outcome is the decider.
@Goffi not that I am aware of in the sense you are referring to it.
I am co-maintaining the #activitypub developer + protocol apps watchlists at https://git.feneas.org/feneas/fediverse/-/wikis/home
Regarding extensions we are setting up a FEP process:

And I proposed a more non-technical Fediverse Futures initiative to elaborate business domain extensions:

@acka47 @datatitian and recent development that #gitea has shown an interest and that triggered @cj to draft this wonderful issue of stuff that should be taken into account for the #forgefed compliance + support.
Yes, @happybeing has Stage 1 ready. See:
@cwebber a small fyi: On #solid forum a member came with a similar scenario to Solitaire vs. ACL's and concluded with:
> This is turning out to be a point pro OCAP, I think.
Then Justin Bingham of the Authentication Panel answered, pointing to recent updates in Solid specs to handle it.
See: https://forum.solidproject.org/t/authorisation-for-a-mobile-app/3692/12
@happybeing you are quite right.
We're introducing a new #humanetechnology field, called #SmallAI (pls check this hashtag. I would highly appreciate boosts of the toots explaining the concept).
Small AI is #AI for People. It contrasts to Big AI that is run in the datacenters of tech molochs, that will own us with it.
Small AI builds on on Aral Balkan's #SmallTech and #SmallWeb principles.
We just started. Please suggest any #FOSS #OpenScience #OpenData AI resources to https://codeberg.org/teaserbot-labs/delightful-humane-ai
@clacke yes. I find that with a little more text the term 'user' is easily avoided.
One other method is to resort to the actual stakeholder names in your descriptions, e.g. shop owner, artist, tourist, what-have-you..
We should avoid the term 'user' for people that are on the #fediverse. It is impersonal.
Using the term 'people' as in people-of-the-fediverse also doesn't cut it. It is too general.
'Resident' as in fediverse-resident is possible, but also not descriptive enough (it needs 2 words to be clear).
Do we have single-word intuitive names to indicate our federated community and movement? Are there multiple terms, are they urban popular language yet?
I'd really like to know, so I can avoid 'user'.
@theruran hmm, interesting..
denβ’iβ’zen dΔnβ²Δ-zΙn
- n. An inhabitant; a resident.- n. One that frequents a particular place.- n. An animal or a plant naturalized in a region.
It has a good meaning. But to me as non-native English speaker I was not familiar with it really. Intuitively to me it has a bit negative connotation, maybe stemming from its likeness to the word 'to deny' at the start (but that may be appropriate too).
And I forgot to tag @forgefed and @bill_auger in the above. Sorry about that.
Check https://mastodon.technology/@cj/105096923790648369 on how @cj #gofed - also implemented in #golang - can be used to implement #forgefed federation features functionality in #gitea
@happybeing the 'Fed' in #forgefed indeed refers to federation, which I know you don't see as the way to go. ForgeFed extends #activitypub as separate vocabulary that allows different code forges to interact.
Main dev is @fr33domlover who is also developing #vervis forge. See https://forgefed.peers.community
There's a list of forges under consideration for integration, see https://talk.feneas.org/t/standard-list-of-existing-software-to-examine/194
Note that fedi could as well be #p2p and e.g. @cwebber @cj and @pukkamustard among others are interested.
For everyone worried about #dmca issues with #github re #RIAA and talking about the need for further #decentralization of code forges, consider giving #forgefed by @fr33domlover your love and support.
https://forgefed.peers.community
There are various requests for feedback on #feneas forum https://talk.feneas.org/c/forgefed/10
And open issues in #gitea and #gitlab to upvote, contribute and comment on. See this comment https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24893100
Here's the forgefed code: https://notabug.org/peers/forgefed
Boosts appreciated.
@clacke apparently this is solved, but some reorganization ongoing. For info you'd need to go to their matrix chatroom.
@markosaric @jeremiahlee this Monday there is a nice panel discussion about #TheSocialDilemma
Might be worth watching if interested in the subject:

@adfeno@strypey I find "user protection tools" a very good, refreshing alternative term for ad-blocker software, but "spy blocker" much less so as it may communicate a narrower set of use cases to ppl that are not familiar with ad-blockers. Like "Spy blocker? Isn't that for journalists, intelligence officers or the tinfoil hat types?".
@Truck> my god this is the worst idea
We have github, gitlab, gitea, gogs and others. They are more than just git. People are free to choose the package and to self-host. There are countless repo's, 1,000's of instances. This is fragmented right now. You need to create accounts everywhere and manage them somehow. Email is just for notification, nothing more. With forgefed you have same control of bad actors, nothing changes.
This shows good forgefed intro + usecases is needed.@fr33domlover
