    1. Generation
      A generation is "all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively." It can also be described as, "the average period, generally considered to be about 20–30 years, during which children are born and grow up, become adults, and begin to have children." In kinship terminology, it is a structural term designating the parent-child relationship. It is also known as biogenesis, reproduction, or procreation in the biological sciences. Generation is also often used synonymously with cohort in social science; under this formulation it means "people within a delineated population who experience the same significant events within a given period of time". Generations in this sense of birth cohort, also known as "social generations", are widely used in popular culture, and have been the basis for sociological analysis. Serious analysis of generations began in the nineteenth century, emerging from an increasing awareness of the possibility of permanent social change and the idea of youthful rebellion against the established social order. Some analysts believe that a generation is one of the fundamental social categories in a society...

    @peter i've found the worst kind of accessibility to be the one that's abbreviated as a11y

    a lovely combination is when a "progressive web app" needs Internet access all the time to even remotely function, and preferably broadband Internet at that

    @vy i thought NetBSD already supports it?

    also, i thought nix relied on the powers of systemd for some of its core features, which might be hard to replicate in the current *BSD landscape

    @trickster the only problem with writing articles for a medium that doesn't send all its (your) data to Google, is that it won't show up on Google News. and same with Facebook: it won't show up in anyone's feeds, so it won't be cross posted to twitter and here

    @zensaiyuki @natecull my favourite!

    like when the validation in JavaScript doesn't match the validation / normalisation in the database

    i've managed to sign up to at least one site, where the backend truncated passwords before (hopefully) hashing them for storage in the dB

    so the password i signed up with, and had stored in my password manger, didn't work for login

      Attached: 1 image @cassidyjames@mastodon.social so, first up: i've created a [`.desktop` file in `~/.local/share/applications](https://gist.github.com/igalic/0454e9b3e5e584134b806ca431d8661b), but even tho it shows up applications, it doesn't show up in ephemeral. but then again, neither does epiphany, so 🤷♀️

    so on #android you can register an app open URL prefixes or patterns.On #Linux this can only be done on mime types — as far as i know.

    (Please tell me i'm wrong)

    started refactoring #Plume to use #async #Rust about a month ago, and it's been quite a trip

    i've learned a lot about Rust and even more about its memory model, and i've learned more about plume

    which is good, cuz it's gonna need a lot more work…

    …than i thought it would, just yesterday afternoon 😅
