If I were to start a new (hopefully federated) #blog, what should I use? Plume? WordPress with the ActivityPub plugin? WriteFreely? How nicely are comments integrated into the #fediverse and is it worth it?

Any new members here, remember that if you don't have a #selfhosted #blog built with a static site generator or plain old #html during the first 30 days of joining this instance, you've failed as a member of #fosstodon, don't forget to add an #rss feed

Do you have a blog that's powered by WordPress software?

Did you know you can connect it to the Fediverse so that people on Mastodon and other platforms can interact with it?

You just need to add the ActivityPub WordPress plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub

You should be able to find this from your blog's plugins menu.

(By the way, this doesn't work on free accounts that are hosted by wordpress.com.)

Any good auto posters yet for #RSS or #IFTTT to #Mastodon? Although I engage daily on Mastodon, I compose my #blog posts from WP and replicate that to 13+ different social networks. No comments appear by my original blog, as I engage on the social networks themselves. I suspect other bloggers are also held back from #Mastodon, as many use an auto poster to make their initial post.

I know there is #crossposter from Twitter, but that limits posts to Twitter's length...

Would Write.as be good for a programming #blog?Ideally I want to write it using markdown, but I also need the ability to categorise the posts, to make it easier to search the blog.

If you have a blog powered by WordPress, you can connect it to the Fediverse so that people on Mastodon etc can follow your blog, comment on posts and share them.

You will need to install a free open source plugin called ActivityPub For WordPress:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub

Note that WordPress the platform is different from wordpress.com the hosting site. Wordpress.com does not allow installation of this kind of plugin (unless you pay an expensive fee).

But you don't need to use wordpress.com to use WordPress! Because WordPress is free open source software, much every hosting provider in the world offers a WordPress site for a few dollars a month, and this kind of indpendently hosted WordPress is what the plugin will work on.

Read the #blog of an autistic guy who wants to be cured of autism.http://jonathans-stories.com/journal/index.htmlHe's very verbose and detailed. Basically, he writes the complete opposite of how I write. Makes me feel my #writing could use more words but my reasons behind terse writing still stand.
