   We've decided to shut down #somsants. It's been 6 years and starting to feel old. We never really acheived our objective anyway. So, we'll start again with a new node on the !fediverse with the same idea of building network in the neighborhood, but now this time with more community to jump start it.
   No sé si usar gnusocial, pleroma o mastadon. I really like #pleroma. Lo he probado pero no está listo para producción. eg. Logout from pleroma, navigate to root url, and you see you haven't been logged out! (entre otras cosas).
   Quitter no me convence por eso que hace de cargarse encima de la interfaz de gnusocial. Gnusocial no brilla, y el brillo importa en un mundo de smartphones. Mastodon, no sé, lo tengo que probar... What a dilemma! Sugerencias please?

   Twidere eats 60% of my battery and hasn't been updated since November 2017.
   The design philosophy of AndStatus is a mystery to anyone beside its creator.
   Mustard is a relic of a time when Identica was still relevannt, which when it still received updates.
   None of the new clients for Mastodon seem to support OStatus/TwitterAPI.
   
   Is there any decent mobile client for !gnusocial left?

   Para inaugurar el nuevo grupo !mapamundi os comunico que ya está confirmado mi próximo viaje a #Laos en Noviembre. :)
   
   Como siempre hago últimamente he comenzado a recopilar información y ponerla en un mapa de #umap con !osm (de momento solo hay algunos marcadores).

   @goofy @framasky Il y a en effet pas de fonctionnalité CW ou NSFW sur !gnusocial à ma connaissance. Il y a des fork de gnusocial qui ont implémenté ces trucs.
   
   C'est pas pour défendre shitposter.machin, c'est juste une information factuelle.
   
   Ce qui veut dire aussi, que les CW et les NSFW venant de mastodon ou pleroma ne sont jamais cachés dans la TL.
   
   Le !fediverse et diverse, justement. :D

   Para mi la (presunta) comunidad de !gnusocial la formamos todas. Tanto las personas que desarrollan y mantienen como las que lo utilizamos.
   
   La respuesta rápida a la pregunta de dónde están las personas que desarrollan (y mantienen) es el canal #social de Freenode en el IRC. Que tiene su puente a la sala xmpp:gnusocial@conference.bka.li
   No obstante, como es más o menos conocido ni la persona que lo desarrollaba ni la que lo mantiene/mantenía disponen de tiempo y/o fuerzas en este momento para continuarlo.
   Es el problema de que tengamos tan pocas personas dedicadas a trabajar para tantas otras.
   
   En el lado positivo, este verano @up201705417 y @dansup van a implementar #ActivityPub en #gnusocial.
   Y a mi lo que más me esperanza del proyecto no es la posibilidad de ampliar la federación, que también, sino el hecho de que para ello se tendrán que desbloquear algunas cosas y puede que sea el principio de algo más a largo plazo.

     @xosem por otro lado, a mi no me parece que #Mastodon se esté adueñando del !fediverse , creo que es un simple proceso natural en que son muchas más personas que nosotras, y que la mayoría ni nos conoce. Ni se plantea ni ha oído hablar mucho de la Federación. A lo más entre sus instancias, pero no con otras redes que a lo mejor no sabe ni que existen.
     
     Yo a Mastodon lo veo como un proyecto de !softwarelibre y !redeslibres que ha tenido bastante éxito y eso es bueno. Como solemos decir, en !gnusocial la mayoría de las personas que seguimos tenemos una ideología detrás que en Mastodon, en general, no es tan importante, pero cualquier proyecto de estas características va a ser minoritario siempre. Y eso no es malo mientras podamos seguir existiendo. :)
     
     Además desde que está Mastodon yo tengo muchos más contactos. :)

   Por cierto, se federan las instancias y las redes. Las instancias de Mastodon entre ellas, los nodos de !gnusocial entre ellos y todas con todos.

    @knuthollund update: the #every-few-minutes-unresponsive-for30-seconds-issue occurs *only with IPv4* ! This will be the reason why you have never encountered it yourself... let me guess:you have IPv6 internet connection at home.
    
    I discovered it with this shell command:
    
    LANG=C; while true; do echo $( date; ( wget -4 -O /dev/null 'https://quitter.no/main/public' 2>&1 | grep "Connecting" ) ); sleep 5; done
    
    This will fetch quitter.no's public timeline page every 5 seconds with either v4 or v6.

      @knuthollund maybe other !gnusocial admins could check one their instances whether they have those slow queries, too.
      
      Because I wonder why this seems to affect only quitter.no (apart from also quitter.se which is currently down), _even though_ quitter.no has already such powerful hardware like SSD, 12 GB RAM and the whole database kept in memory. I would expect there are at least some less powerful instances around, but I'm still still havent found other instances affected by this #every-few-minutes-unresponsive-for30-seconds-issue.

      @knuthollund so to me it now looks like that #someone-out-there creates lots of IPv4 connections to q.no's webserver. And that explains why the local user gets "connection failed" with Firefox so often with IPv4.
      
      I guess your webserver has separate connection limits for IPv4 and v6. #Someone-out-there (maybe the lot of mastodon instances) saturates the webserver's IPv4 connection limit.
      
      I have now created a SOCKS proxy for IPv6 for myself and so far Quitter.no works awesome over that proxy, without any annoyances. Just occasionally a little slower (that may be the slow queries) but absolutely acceptable.
      
      So you could try making the webserver's IPv4 connection limit higher. Maybe that will solve all problems. Or: we could block the instances that overload our connections using packet filter or /etc/hosts.

    Prueba de mención multiple para @colegota @puppetmaster y @fanta lo bueno de Mastodon es que tiene un autocomplete y cuando no sabes como se llama la usuaria pues te lo dice él.
    
    Ya me direis si esto ha llegado también por favor que voy un poco a ciegas.
    
    Y de paso alguien me puede explicar como cambiar de tema, para empezar con esto querria crear un tema nuevo. !gnusocial

    @luke we had to turn it off, because it is completely overloaded. we're thinking about what to do. costs are too high. and we don't have much motivation to work with it right now, sorry :( but if we decide to close it, we will at least take it online for a while so people can export their data. i wish i had more energy for computer work, but all i want to do is ride my bike...

      @hannes Can we, the users, help to save quitter.se? Maybe some more people would make regular monthly donations now. (SEPA bank transfer is free of charge within the EU by law so EU people can even donate small amounts like 3 € per month automatically without any fees.)
      
      And maybe there are other admins who can help with the technical problems.
      
      Maybe you actually don't need a hardware upgrade now. Because: quitter.NO has exactly the same issue with "not-responding database server every few minutes". And quitter.no already runs on powerful hardware (SSD disk, 12 GB RAM and the whole database kept in memory) AND has a smaller number of users.
